Quick Guide and Training<\/strong>
\nA General Quick Guide<\/a> shows all major functions of the logger and provides you with a short troubleshooting guide. Please note that any documentation given by event officials supersede this document.

Take a look at the Online Tutorial<\/a> made by Mathijs de Bruijn. It is a great help to get started with the logger!<\/p>\n

For privately owned loggers additional information<\/a> is available on configuring the logger and handling track files.<\/p>\n

Use the logger as GPS receiver for the laptop with USB<\/strong>
\n(This works with all loggers)<\/em>
\nPilots can use the balloon competition logger as their GPS receiver for the laptop. The logger sends standard NMEA data through it’s USB port. The NMEA records contain the current position as well as the altitude (barometric, QNH corrected).<\/p>\n

Installation:
\nYou must first install the drivers as described here<\/a>.
\nThen switch on the logger and connect it to the laptop.
\nThe driver allocates a COM port for the logger. Use your system tools (e.g. Device Manager) to find the port number that was chosen. Use your mapping software end set it to the following settings:<\/p>\n

NMEA device, RS232, COM-Port as chosen by the driver
\n57600 baud, 8 data-bits, no parity bit, 1 stop bit<\/p>\n

Important<\/em>: If the logger is connected to the laptop before it is switched on it does not work. (You can’t switch it on). The same holds for switching off the logger: If the logger is still connected to the laptop it freezes the screen but doesn’t switch off until you disconnect it from your computer.<\/p>\n
